1.  Discussion of Cawthron visit (Chris Cornelisen and Rowan Strickland).  Looking at a Feb, 2012 deployment.  Discussion of potentially sending 2 machines.

2.  Discussion of upcoming schedule after JdF.  The fall may see a pier deployment at SC wharf.  M0 deployment unclear; unsure of CANON intentions in the fall.* idea to not go on MARS until April 2012 and stay until October.  This would permit extensive exercising of adaptive sampling, some preliminary discussion of how we'd trigger...
3.  Teledyne contract/collaboration

• What 'item' is confined/defined enough that we could use them to help?
  • pizza-pie concept
  • sampler filter elements.  How contained?  What is filter size?  Pursue tangential filtering, or give them requirements and that as a possible solution.
  • Boards are also well-defined, but we may be going to different actuators, so boards may be very different than what we are currently using.
• Jim talking to Metcalf tomorrow (Friday morning).  Update:  He had lost all his notes from our March 10 meeting (misplaced his iPad), and couldn't really remember what we had wanted.  I reminded him of the email and (some of) it came back.  He said he'd farm ideas around and would like to meet again, by early June. sigh.

4.  Will contact McLane about our HV pucks.

5.  Need to have a 'lessons-learned' with Yanwu regarding adaptive sampling, given our recent CANON experience with event triggering.

D-ESP

1.   This past week was the 2-year anniversary of the first deployment of the sphere and elevator.  There was a party and much frivolity to look back and see how far we'd come.

2.  DWSM bag switch problem

• Doug thinks he's found how oil is creeping into the hydraulic system rendering the bag switches inoperable.  Leakage around barb fittings.  Will try permanent glue at all fittings.
• 1st build of DWSM is ongoing.  Sample side progressing well with pulse suppressors in, and IEP replacement motor in.

3.  Harvard having trouble lysing their thermophiles using our reagents/protocols.  Pete suggesting maybe putting other assays on the MFB, but little time to develop new probes/primers.  Older, proven probes/primers will give little scientifically interesting data.  Looks like JdF may be turning more into an engineering test and archival mission.

4.  Chris preston having trouble with lysing thermophiles for SHA; will try bead-beating just to see if the arrays work.
